Speed mentoring

Updated: Dec 26, 2018

This Wednesday, we had our first speed mentoring session, where we pitched our idea and our possible solutions to experts from many different industries, hoping to get valuable feedback.

First, we met Mor Shani a Head of Design & Vibes at Yotpo company. Mor recommended us to target a specific niche for our product. He also brought up an idea of ride sharing specifically in cities, meaning that we would offer only shorts ride (between 10-15 min'). The main idea was to disconnect the interaction of the passenger with the driver!

After Mor, we met Moran Haviv, head of the Incubator at Microsoft. Moran suggested to better define our needs. She said that we may need to change our app to a trust app - One of her biggest recommendation was to investigate Airbnb app.

Then, we met Itai Pries, an Adjunct Lecturer at IDC Herzliya. Itai focused us and made us go back to thinking about our original idea. He told us that a lot of companies today take data about users from the Internet. According to him we need to make a system that will know the user and will give him a "final score" of trust on different drivers.

The last mentor we met was Dana Gordon an Architect & Interaction Designer. Dana's recommendation focused on making the app exclusive. Meaning that only people who get an invitation from their friends can join the community. Dana recommended that we learn more about the drivers, and not just about the passengers.

At the end of the session we were very confused. Many ideas, many suggestions and not really sure what way to go. To finalise that day in a positive and target-oriented way we sat down with one of our lectures, Eran, and we discussed possible final ideas for our solution.

When finalising all the feedback we got today we constructed the following final idea with Eran. Our app will have three layers that will contribute to our trust measure:

Layer 1 (Hidden): Past ride connection Layer 2: Phone contacts

Layer 3: Social Media

A user will choose how much weight to give to each layer (The default will be â…“).

We formalised this idea in the file attached and sent it for final approval.

Brainstorming

During the holiday vacation, we designed the demo application we will present at the end of the semester. We also thought of various ideas for writing a script for an image clip that we do for our app
